Thanksgiving: A celebration of Roasting Porgs and Peanut Butter Porters

Image
Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at thespeakpodcast! As the weather turns cooler, porter season is upon us. We sample an offerings from Four Day Ray and Horny Goat Brewing . We should give an honorable mention to DuClaw as well as Sweet Baby Jesus did make an appearance on this episode. Mute the commentary during the Macy's Day Parade and listen to us while you watch the balloons float by!

Brown Beers and Beaver Butts

Don't let that super-sweet episode title fool you. There is actually, genuinely, truthfully good beer reviewing that took place in this episode. Sure, we then talked about getting pulled over and chugging a beer, Adam's death hugs, and expressing beaver butts. All of this because you need to get the hard-hitting news somewhere and we're just the team to bring it to you. Expert journalism aside, our local beer is Bier Brewery's Backpackin' Brown Porter. This medium bodied porter "for all seasons" caused some insightful beer discussion amongst the group. And yes, even Adam. Up next is Dogfish Head's Palo Santo Marron. This American Brown Ale really wow'ed the collective. Seek this one out, give it a shot and let us know your thoughts. Then come the hugs and beaver butts.

Porters Again

Our last episode featuring porters was such a hit, we thought we’d try it again. Devil’s Trumpet Brewing Company’s War Horn Porter starts the shows. Well, a large amount of shenanigans start the show, but the first beer we “review” is War Horn. Next, from Stone Brewing we have their 6 th Anniversary porter from their 20 th Anniversary re-issue collection. Which is confusing and hard to follow. But rest assured, we offer no additional clarity.  Special shout-out to Delaware Dan for his submission to our re-occurring segment, “HOLD MY BEER!” Trust me when I say, Dan's story is too good to miss. So, be sure to stay tuned until the end. Also, we'll have to check with our statistician, but I believe this show may be a new record for most ever censor "bleeps."

Porters and Predator-Holes

You know what makes America great? Adam can say whatever he wants on the internet without fear of repercussion... unless it's being able to do things like find a job, be allowed near playgrounds, or look his mother(s) in the eye ever again. Celebrate the 4th of July with us as we talk about Porter's, celebrate the film career of Arnold Schwarzenegger (or at least one of his films), and inspire the US to take it's Zamboni fatality record back from Canada. To kick things off we have Burn 'Em Brewing's Duke Silver Jazzy Porter. A beer that was well received by the group, but Adam manages to embarrass the show in record time while describing the can. The 7 malted beer makes for a refreshing, full-bodied beverage for a warm 4th of July. We then move out of state and sample an offering from Evil Twin Brewing and partake of their Imperial Donut Bank. Here's to the memory Of the man That raised the corn That fed the goose That bore the quill That made the ...

A Night at Redemption

Well, we let Adam out in public again. Steve said he would keep him in-line. The results were mixed. However, we had a chance to speak with Josh at Redemption and learn all of the things. We all have exclusive news about an upcoming event with Hotel Tango. We sampled the Kuckoo 4 Coconuts and their new Hog Wings. Both were amazing, be sure to listen for our formal review of both. We also invited Matt Muncy back from Indiana on Tap's podcast. Be sure to check those guys out too, if you haven't already.
