Outta the Vault!

Image
You know how Disney locks away movies in a vault and then re-releases them? Well, this is kinda like that, except we forgot to release the episode initially. So we’d like to introduce you again for the first to time this - our episode from the vault! We kick things off with a beer you can no longer get from Books and Brews , Jabbersmokey! It is an imperial smoked stout aged in a scotch whiskey barrel. Just because you can’t get this one anymore, doesn’t mean that you can’t have Books and Brews beer delivered to your door! We also chat about Sweet Baby Jesus! From DuClaw Brewing Company . Let’s be honest - if you haven’t tried this one yet, do you even craft beer, bro? Also, shout-out to Barrel Chat. Coupla IPA's

So uh, it's been about a month. We know that you've missed us and we promise to try and stick to our regular upload schedule. Things have been rough with Steve abandoning the show and HIS CREDIT HOURS! That being said, thank you to our sponsor Books and Brews for seeing us through these trying times and allowing us some Nanceferatu to consume and review. This then (naturally) leads us to a geography discussion because we then review Truth from Rhinegeist and Adam and Rob can't let a simple mistake die! We hope you enjoy! Also - Jet's go ahead and DM us for our mailing address for the sponsorship payment.

Indiana Double Barreled

Image
Yo Yo! To celebrate our new found print fame (We're in the Indianapolis Star today) we're releasing a double Indiana barrel-aged beer episode. We kick things off with Books and Brews' Shiaclops. We follow that up with Taxman Brewing's Mescal Barrel Exemption. Because Adam single-handily brought us the fame now bestowed upon us we allow him more bleeps and pauses than we ever have before! If you like, Adam you're sure to love this episode!

NYE 2018

Image
Happy (almost) New Year! Kick off your 2019 with Adam's rambling about raisins, Rob's peppered vodka, and whatever the hell the resident wine expert, Pete was talking about. Thanks to Cardinal Spirits , Starlight Distillery and Books and Brews for manufacturing the fine products consumed on this episode.

Stoutstravaganza

Oh crap, we’re a week late posting this episode. To make it up to you though, we’re going three stouts deep in this episode. Also, we bring back sports questions for Adam. To kick things off we sample Franken gloop from Books &Brews . It’s a triple chocolate stout, aged in a rye wheat whiskey barrel. It’s part of their Monster Reserve Series. Keeping it local, we then move to Deer Creek Brewery 's Black Mystic Java Stout. Editor’s note: This was last year’s Black Mystic. The year’s release is more “robust.” And to wind things down a bit, we venture out of state to discuss, Prairie Artisan Ales : No Chill Coffee Milk Stout. Oh, and if anyone knows and Army recruiter, Adam is “on tape” indicating he wants to enlist. Send us an email! * Photo Credit: Alyssa B (abatula on untappd)

Shorty: Whitestown Brewfest 2018

Image
When the city of Whitestown comes calling with beer, you answer the call. Friend of the show, Sarah Burns asked if we wanted to come to Whitestown to see what some home brewers had to offer, so we made the trip. When we arrived we were able to meet up with Justin of Books and Brews and our good friends, Kevin and Kelsey of Out Here Having a Pint . We caught up a little bit and discussed scented butt wipes before venturing off to sample some beers. We hit up Nick Boling of Rocket Man brewing (spoiler alert: He won the competition) and learned about why he got in to brewing. Nick pointed us in the direction of, Jeremiah Tyson of Tyson Craft Brewing to get learned about mead. After that, we visited with Sarah before Pete had to leave in order to avoid spontaneous combustion. His fair ginger skin would not allow him to be in the sun any further. Be sure to like and subscribe. Oh, and make sure you tell all of your friends and follow us on all of the social medias! ...

Beer and Adam's Apple Games

Image
Looking to satisfy both your inner gaming nerd and inner beer nerd? This episode we were lucky enough to sit down with Adam Rehberg of Adam's Apple Games   and discuss an exclusive and super-cool demo we were provided of: Brewin' USA Taproom Takeover. We discuss the in's and out's of the game a little bit and talk some Minnesota beer. You'll be able to visit with Adam in person at Gencon 2018   and you can find his newest game, Swordcrafters  on Kickstarter! A beer and a game later in to our evening we talk about two new offerings from Books and Brews : A Barrel to Arms and New Liberty Lager. Adam's new job as a panda fluffer comes up and then stuff gets weird. You heard me, and THEN it gets weird. Enjoy!

Oktoberfest Special

Image
Your favorite podcasters decided to gather together behind the bar to discuss some Oktoberfest offerings from People's Brewing Company as well as a Marzen from Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. Special shout-out to Books and Brews as they are slated to open two new locations!

Books and Brews Shorty

Image
In honor of the abbreviated work week, we're releasing another episode in our, "shorty" series. This shorty takes us on location to Books and Brews in Zionsville. We heard from our secret industry sources that the Zionsville location has a revamped food menu and is now family friendly. Family friendly of course means that children are allowed so we brought Adam who promptly found the crayons and a place mat and proceeded to begin coloring. His night culminated with an embarrassing tic-tac-toe loss to intern, Steve. We squeeze beer, humor, and pointless banter in to a bite-sized 15 minutes of fun. Enjoy!

Soba Sode

Image
While it is Kentucky Derby weekend, if you're looking for something to do not involving mint juleps and funny hats, tune in to learn about Soba Ales. Or, at least, listen to three morons talk about Soba Ale. It probably goes without saying, but apologies to the following: Japan, Soba, Books and Brews, and Rogue. Truly and deeply sorry.  We kick things of with an offering from Books and Brews; their Shogun Soba Ale - Amber Ale with Buckwheat. Special thanks to listener Tim for the beer donation.  We follow up that Indiana beer with one from Portland; Rogue Brewing's Morimoto Soba Ale. Be sure to listen until the end when Adam teaches us all how to get out of drinking related motor vehicle infractions. He has more than a little experience. Enjoy!

Books and Brews and the Mysterious Milk Stout

Image
Happy freakin' Saturday! Let us help you start your weekend off right by tuning in to learn about milk stouts! We present to you beer from Books and Brews and Left Hand Brewing. Charlie and the Chocolate Milk Stout... ours was broken. It was more like Charlie and the Sour Milk Stout. If you see Books and Brews bombers on the shelves know that they have perhaps been kept on the shelf by the vendor for too long. We'd recommend going to the brewery directly to acquire their fine fermented beverages to ensure awesomeness. Plus, it's usually a fun time with cool people and excellent grilled cheese sangwiches. And, with the recent franchising, there is sure to be one near you. We then talk Left Hand Brewing followed by shower beer and then things reach the usual level of random that you come to expect from our show. Enjoy!
